Vice President Jiang Song Meets with Cell Press Delegation
On April 29, 2026, Jiang Song, Vice President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), met with Richard Remington, Senior Vice President of Cell Press.
Prof. Jiang Song welcomed the delegation, and introduced NSFC’s initiatives in promoting basic research, fostering innovative talent, and supporting open scientific cooperation. He noted that Cell Press’ professional advantages in integrating global scientific resources, providing high-quality academic platforms and supporting innovation in science are well aligned with NSFC’s core mission of promoting high-quality scientific development and encouraging original innovation. He expressed willingness to further deepen cooperation and exchanges with Cell Press to jointly serve the high-quality development of basic research.
Richard Remington shared Cell Press’ initiatives in promoting science communication and supporting multidisciplinary and sustainability. He expressed willingness to work together with NSFC to support international scientists exchanges and advance sustainability related researches. The two sides reached preliminary consensus on further cooperation under the NSFC Global Science and Cooperation Conference framework and the Sustainable International Development Cooperation Science Program (SDIC). The meeting also discussed on topics including the development of life and medical sciences, AI for Science, support for early career researchers, international cooperation, and translational and applied research.
Hélène Hodak, Executive Editor for Life and Medical Sciences at Cell Press; Steve Mao, Editor-in-Chief of Cancer Cell; representatives from STMJ Journals China at Elsevier; Fan Yingjie, Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation; Wang Puyue, Deputy Director of the Department of Life Sciences; Hong Wei, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Sciences; and staff from Elsevier and NSFC Bureau of International Cooperation were present at the meeting.
