On April 9, 2026, Dou Xiankang, President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), met with the Elsevier delegation led by Ms. Li Lin, President of Elsevier Greater China, and Mr. M’hamed el Aisati, Vice President of Analytical & Data Services.

Dou Xiankang extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and introduced NSFC’s measures to advance basic research and nurture innovative talents. He noted that NSFC highly values cooperation with world-leading academic publishing institutions, and stands ready to further deepen exchanges with Elsevier, expand collaboration in areas such as research data analysis and support for the growth of young scholars, so as to jointly serve the high-quality development of basic research.

Ms. Li Lin expressed that Elsevier has maintained friendly exchanges and cooperation with NSFC over a long period of time, and is willing to provide stronger support to NSFC by leveraging its data and analytical capabilities in the future. Mr. M'hamed el Aisat shared analytical data on research outcomes from projects funded by the NSFC. During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on topics including the cultivation of young talents, international cooperation, research dissemination and the enhancement of global influence.

Also present at the meeting were Kang Xiaoling, Director of Academic Relations at Elsevier, Yang Lu, Director of Solutions at Elsevier, as well as several other representatives from Elsevier. Wang Yan, Director General of the Bureau of Planning and Policy, Fan Yingjie, Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation, Li Dong, Deputy Director of the Science Communication and Achievement Transformation Center, and relevant staff from the Bureau of International Cooperation of NSFC also attended the meeting.
