Vice President Jiang Song Meets with Mongolian National Foundation for Science and Technology

On December 17, 2025, Professor Jiang Song, Vice President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), met with the visiting delegation led by Dr. Bat-Erdene Batnasan, Director General of the Mongolian National Foundation for Science and Technology (MFST).

Vice President Jiang Song reviewed the cooperation achievements between NSFC and MFST. He pointed out that NSFC places great importance to international cooperation, and has built a new pattern of all-dimensional, multi-level and wide-ranging international cooperation through continuously deepening collaboration and linkage with scientific institutions around the world. He noted that in response to common global challenges such as sustainable development and major scientific problems, NSFC has promoted a scientific research funding ecology featuring "internationalization, high level and global vision" through measures such as deepening international collaborative research, supporting academic exchange, and training young talents. Mongolia is an important neighboring country and a comprehensive strategic partner of China. The visit of the MFST delegation is an affirmation of the past cooperation, and more importantly, marks a new starting point for jointly moving forward. It will help both sides further expand cooperation areas, innovate cooperation modes on the basis of the existing fruitful cooperation, enhance the well-being of the people of the two countries through scientific and technological innovation, and jointly build a China-Mongolia scientific and technological innovation community.

Director Bat-Erdene Batnasan expressed deep agreement with this. He said that the MFST will continuously increase investment to support Chinese and Mongolian scientists to carry out broader and deeper cooperation in key fields such as agricultural sustainable development. He proposed to revise the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed by NSFC and MFST in 2017, hoping to expand the collaboration to encompass capacity building and academic exchange in addition to the existing joint research projects.

During the meeting, the Bureau of International Cooperation of NSFC introduced the international cooperation of NSFC and the cooperation with Mongolia. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on establishing new funding channels, joint talent cultivation and addressing global challenges.

Dr. Fan Yingjie, Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation, and relevant staff members attended the meeting.
