On May 13, 2024, NSFC Vice President Dr. Lan Yujie met with Professor Wolfgang Lutz, Interim Deputy Director General of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and Professor Jiang Leiwen, Member of the IIASA Science Advisory Committee.

Dr. Lan extended a warm welcome to the delegation and conveyed his appreciation for IIASA's research contributions in tackling global challenges and acknowledged the institute's important role in promoting science diplomacy. Professor Lutz presented an overview of IIASA's development history and reviewed its cooperation with China. Both sides participated in discussions focused on enhancing China-IIASA collaboration and expressed their mutual commitment to supporting ongoing research partnerships to address global challenges.

Dr. Zhang Yongtao, Acting Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation, and other NSFC officials also attended the meeting.
