On April 24, 2024, Prof. Dou Xiankang, President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) met with Mr. Jesse C. Wiley, Chairman of Wiley.

President Dou Xiankang introduced to Mr. Wiley the reform measures of NSFC in talent cultivation, scientific research integrity and digital infrastructure construction. Mr. Wiley stated that Wiley has attached great importance to cooperate with China over the years and appreciated the initiatives of NSFC in promoting scientific exchange and cooperation and supporting young talents.

The two sides had in-depth exchanges on topics including academic publishing, open science and research integrity, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas of open access, adoption of Basic Researcher ID (BRID), and promotion of research integrity.

Dr. Yao Yupeng, Executive Deputy Director General of Department of Earth Sciences and Deputy Director general of Bureau of Planning and Policy, Dr. Guo Jianquan, Deputy Director General of General Office (Office of Research Integrity), Dr. Zhang Yongtao, Acting Director General of Bureau of International Cooperation, and Prof. Peng Jie, Director General of Center for Science Communication and Achievement Transformation also attended the meeting.
