LU Jianhua, Vice President, Member of Party Group
Professor Lu Jianhua, Ph.D., was born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in 1963. He is Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and currently a member of party group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He graduated from the Department of Radio Electronics at Tsinghua University, receiving Bachelor’s degree in 1986, and Master's degree in 1989. He later obtained his Ph.D. from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1998. Prof. Lu was a winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and was selected as “Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars” by the Ministry of Education. From 1989 to 2004, he taught in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, meanwhile he served as the Deputy Director of Tsinghua Space Center, Tsinghua University. From 2004 to 2016, he served as Deputy Dean of School of Aerospace, Tsinghua University. Since 2016, he has been the Dean of School of Information Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. Long engaging in the theoretical and application research of wireless transmission, Prof. Lu has gained a series of important achievements in broadband wireless communication technology, satellite communication and space information network technology, multimedia signal processing, deep space communication, etc., which have exerted significant impacts at home and abroad. He has received a number of awards and honors, including National Natural Science Award--2nd Prize, National Technology Invention Award--2nd Prize, “Award for Outstanding Contribution to Operation Chang’e-2 of Lunar Probe Project” and “Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Chinese Satellite Application”. Prof. Lu is also a leading scientist and main participant of a number of projects in National Programs such as “863” and “973”. He has published more than 200 academic papers, and has more than 80 national invention patents.
