ZHANG Xi, Vice President, Member of Party Group
Professor Zhang Xi, Ph.D., was born in Changsha, Hunan Province in 1965. His research interests are focused on the construction, regulation and function of supramolecular system, including new method of controlled supramolecular polymerization, super-amphiphilic molecules and controlled self-assembly, supramolecular free radicals, supramolecular chemotherapy, interfacial assembly and ordered thin films, single molecular force spectroscopy and etc.. Before joining Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University in 2003, Prof. Zhang was a Lecturer then Professor at Jilin University since 1992. His previous executive positions include Chair of Department of Chemistry, Deputy Dean and Dean of School of Sciences at Tsinghua University, and Director-General of Department of Chemical Sciences at NSFC. Prof. Zhang is the chair of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University, and has received a number of awards and honors, including “Outstanding Young Scholar” from Hong Kong QiuShi Science and Technology Foundation in 1998, “Chang Jiang Scholar” Special Professorship from Ministry of Education of China in 1999, National Natural Science Award-2nd prize in 2004, Science and Technology Award for Chinese Youth in 2006, Member of Chinese Academy of Science in 2007, Fellow of UK Royal Society of Chemistry in 2008, AkzoNobel Chemical Science Award in 2010, Fellow of American Chemical Society in 2016, and Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award in 2016.
