From October 5th to 8th, 2015, Sino-US CZO Workshop co-sponsored by NSFC and NSF and jointly hosted by Institute of Geochemistry and Institute of Soil Science, CAS was held in Gui Yang, China. NSFC Vice President Liu Congqiang, CAS Academician, attended the workshop. Over fifty experts from China and the U.S. participated in the workshop during which they engaged in exchanges and discussions on Sino-US CZO research progress and some key scientific issues. In particular, the attendees conducted profound discussions on the cooperation opportunities and mechanisms between China and US CZO observation stations. The recommendation reports produced in the workshop will play an active role in establishing a more consistent and substantive funding mechanism for research cooperation between the two sides.
After the workshop, participants went on a field trip to Karst Ecosystem Observation Station of CAS in Puding, Guiyang and Red Soil Ecological Experiment Station of CAS in Yingtan, Jiangxi.
Also participated in the meeting were Yao Yupeng from NSFC’s Department of Earth Sciences and Liu Xiuping from the Bureau of International Cooperation.
