President Yang Wei Meets with NSF Delegation


NSFC President Yang Wei met on May 25th, 2014 with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) delegation headed by Dr. France A. Córdova, Director of NSF. As co-host of the Global Research Council (GRC) Meeting to be held in Beijing, President Yang welcomed Dr. Córdova’s presence in the GRC Meeting and briefed the delegation on the status quo and latest progresses of NSFC, with an emphasis on recent NSFC-NSF bilateral cooperation and substantial achievements jointly fulfilled.

Dr. Córdova acknowledged the reception by President Yang and presented a brief introduction of the recent developments of NSF. Both sides appreciated the recent NSFC-NSF bilateral collaboration and expressed enthusiasm in furthering bilateral substantial cooperation in natural sciences and engineering as well as exchanges between NSFC and NSF staff in respect of project management.

Dr. Graham Harrison, Acting Section Head for International Science and Engineering in NSF Office of International and Integrative Activities, Dr. Nancy Sung, Director of NSF Beijing Office, Mr. Sun Bo, Program Specialist of NSF Beijing Office, Dr. Feng Feng, Director General of NSFC Bureau of International Cooperation, Prof. Zou Liyao, Deputy Director General of NSFC Bureau of International Cooperation, and Ms. Liu Xiuping, Division Head as well as Mr. Wei Qin, program officer from NSFC Bureau of International Cooperation attended the meeting.
