The Workshop on“Evolution of Cooperation”in Beijing

Jointly sponsored by NSFC and International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and organized by Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS),the Workshop on “Evolution of Cooperation” was held at the Sino-German Center for Science Promotion in Beijing on April 8th, 2014.

Prof. Liu Congqiang, Vice President of NSFC, Dr. Ulf Dieckmann, Director of Evolution and Ecology Program, IIASA and Prof. Tao Yi, Institute of Zoology, CAS as Chinese Workshop organizer attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. Around 80 scientists from 10 countries such as China, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Portugal, Hungary, Japan and Korea participated in the workshop. Relevant program directors and officials from Department of Maths and Physics, Department of Life Sciences, Department of Information and Bureau of International Cooperation, NSFC were present at the opening ceremony.

Approved by the State Council of China, NSFC joined IIASA on behalf of China in January 2002. Collaborations between China and IIASA have been well organized in the past 12 years. The two sides have jointly funded 12 Joint Research Projects and 57 young Chinese scientists to attend Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) held in Vienna. The workshop will further enlarge and deepen the cooperation between Chinese scientists and IIASA.
