NSFC Annual Meeting on International Cooperation Held in Beijing

NSFC's 2012 Meeting on International Cooperation was held in Beijing on Feb. 24th, 2012. The theme of the meeting was to further implement the open and cooperative strategy of science funding, define the focal points of the NSFC's international cooperation for 2012, and discuss NSFC's administration for foreign affairs and the revision of "Rules for NSFC Program of International (Regional) Conference in China". A total of 45 representatives from NSFC bureaus and scientific departments attended the meeting. 

NSFC Vice President, Prof. ShenWenqing delivered his speech in the meeting, in which he emphasized main tasks this year including the enhancement of international policy research, the identification of funding priority, the adjustment on the present cooperative agreements, the revision of program regulation, and the optimization on the management of the cooperative research program under agreement, etc. Prof. Chang Qing, Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation, gave his presentation on NSFC's international cooperative performance in 2011 and the ideas on disposition for 2012. Each scientific department representative delivered a report on the funding and managing work of its international cooperative programs in 2011 as well as the challenges and problems to be solved. Prof. ZouLiyao, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation, introduced the background and the progress of the revision on "Rules for NSFC's Program of International (Regional) Conference in China".

A discussion session followed the reports and the attendees put forward proposals and suggestions on the management for the Program of International (Regional) Conference in China from various angels. The meeting promoted the coordination and communication of foreign affair management among different departments and laid the foundation for further implementing NSFC's international cooperative strategy.
