Dr. Han Yu, Ph.D., was born in Gaoling, Shaanxi Province in 1965. He graduated with B.Sc and M.Sc in Solid Mechanics from Department of Aircraft Design and Applied Mechanics at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and obtained his Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Tianjin University in 2004. Dr. Han started his career at National Aging Committee of China in 1990, and joined NSFC in Bureau of Policy in July 1991. From July 1997 to May 2013, his previous positions at NSFC include Deputy Director and Director of Research Division, Director of Developmental Strategy Division, Assistant Director-General, and Deputy Director-General of Bureau of Policy, Deputy Secretary of NSFC CPC Committee. Between May 2012 and May 2013, he served as Deputy Mayor and Standing Member of CPC Committee of Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province on secondment. He became the Director of the General Office, NSFC from May 2013 and served as the Deputy Secretary-General of NSFC concurrently from October 2016 to March 2018. From March 2018, he started to serve as the Secretary-General of NSFC.
