Major Research Plan

In order to strengthen basic and part of applied research and to enhance the nation's sustainable creative ability in science and technology, NSFC has launched the Major Research Plan.

Major Research Plan will meet the regularity and characteristics of basic research, aim at key scientific issues, and integrate and assemble the projects with different disciplinary backgrounds, various academic thinking and at different levels (including General, Key and Major projects) so as to form a group of projects with an integrated objective. Major Research Plan will receive relatively longer funding (6-8 years) for the sake of promoting interdisciplinary research and academic content and stimulating creativity.

Under the national general layout of S&T development and the frame of national innovation system, Major Research Plan will form a chain and complementary relation with other national major S&T programs and coordinate with projects under the National Key Basic Research Development Plan.
