    China Association of Science Foundations

 
 

    China Association of Science Foundations is the association of various Chinese science funding agencies and a national academic organization of theoretical researchers and managers of science foundations.
     The Association was ratified by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China and registered in December 1991. Its competent authority is the Ministry of Science and Technology and it is associated with NSFC. Its office is in Beijing.
    The Association plays a bridge role among Chinese science funding organizations and science foundation workers. Its main responsibility is to serve its member associations, the science funding work and the development and optimization of science funding system with Chinese own feature.
    By summarizing and learning the practical experience and knowledge of science funding work both at home or abroad and in view of the problems arising from the development of Chinese science funding system, it is to carry out the exchanges of experience of scientific funding work, to conduct research on the theory and operation mechanism of science funding system, to organize academic workshops and to provide consultation and suggestions to government departments concerned on major issues in the implementation of science funding system.
    To collect data and information on domestic science foundations, to provide information consultation service and training, and to compile and publish journals and reference materials of science foundations.
    To establish contact with research institutions and science funding management organizations abroad and to carry out academic exchanges and cooperation.
    To organize personnel training of science funding management.
    To undertake tasks entrusted by the competent authorities and institutions concerned.
    The Association has 178 member associations and 1456 individual members who are working in NSFC, regional science foundations, industrial and trade foundations, nongovernmental S&T foundations as well as the administrative organizations and institutions of various S&T foundations.
    The Association implements its work through its representative congress. Its council is the executive organ and it has a permanent office and five committees.
